Hockey Initiation Program, for boys and girls ages 4 - 15, is designed to teach the fundamentals of proper skating techniques for hockey. Each program is 7 weeks long, can be repeated, and when successfully completed, will prepare the child for Recreational League play. Hockey Initiation Program will teach introductory shooting, passing, and stick handling in addition to maneuverability, speed and agility. Prerequisite skill is independent forward skating. Classes are one hour in length and include seven free public session passes with your registration. Completion of our Hockey Skating Lesson Program prior to taking Hockey Initiation Program is strongly recommended.
Hockey Initiation Program 2 is open to all players over 8 years old who have completed Hockey Initiation Program (HIP) or another clinic/instruction program. The goal of the league is to have scrimmage games for young skaters who are not ready for organized hockey, but are ready for the next step after HIP. This class is for players who have completed HIP at least twice and is only offered in the spring.
